Put your own oxygen mask on first!
Many of us give, give, give to others.
We put ourselves at the back of the queue when it comes to giving care and compassion, preferring to take care of others and putting their needs before our own.
This can lead to high stress and burnout, which in turn equals high cortisol levels – which has been proven to accelerate ageing and contributes to weight gain.
So if you don’t want to get old before your time – focus on you – this may seem a challenge at first because you are probably used to focusing on anything but you.
From now on you and your health are your priority. So if you want to be effective when helping other people, you need to optimise your health; maintain clear boundaries so as not be overwhelmed by the needs of others; and allow yourself some daily space to restore your energy levels.
As the Aircraft Safety message states: “Put your own oxygen mask on first before helping others”.
Practising hypnotherapy every day, even for a short space of time, can be extremely beneficial in helping you to relax and can help you to keep your stress and cortisol levels in check.
